Building for a Brighter Future

The YMCA has sold the Maryland Farms YMCA property and consolidated operations into an expanded and improved Y on Concord Road built to serve Brentwood for the next generation.

RENOVATION HIGHLIGHTS

NEW OUTDOOR AQUATICS CENTER

The brand-new Carpenter Outdoor Aquatics Center is Brentwood’s go-to destination for outdoor exercise and fun in the water. The new zero-entry recreation pool includes two water slides, water spouts, and other fun features designed for members of all ages. A second six-lane, 25-yard lap swimming pool provides dedicated space for exercise-minded swimmers. Best of all, both pools are heated, ensuring that the aquatics center remains open well past Labor Day. This space also features a snack pavilion, changing areas, and expanded outdoor deck space.

BIGGER AND BETTER WELLNESS

The new Brentwood Y’s wellness floor area will be over 61% larger in addition to seven new group exercise studios, including a new Indoor Cycling Studio, Mind Body Studio, Pilates Reformer Studio, and a new 3,000-square-foot group exercise studio. There will be room for everyone to get moving and stay active. Members can also take their workouts outside to the brand-new outdoor fitness terrace or new Yoga Lawn.

TRANSFORMED YOUTH AND TEEN SPACES

Highlighted by the new Dummermuth Adventure Zone, the Y-Play and Youth Activity Center areas will provide kids with expanded opportunities to play, and take part in STEM activities and new programming. The space will also be available for unscheduled playtime for families when Y-Play and YAC are not in service. The Y’s new Teen Center features dedicated spaces for education, music, e-gaming, and socializing while also providing easy access to the Skate Park and new outdoor Youth Terrace.

NEW PLACES TO BE TOGETHER

A dedicated community wing will offer members and other friends in the Brentwood area a place to gather and find fellowship. The completely renovated Sam McGahern Full Circle Center will continue to provide vital learning and recreation opportunities for our members with diverse abilities. In addition, we will have multi-purpose rooms that will serve as meeting spaces for Y programs like After Breast Cancer (ABC), YCAP, and other community-partnered events. Whether it’s a spirit-mind class, local community meetup, or just coffee with an old friend, the community wing’s functional kitchen area, adaptable meeting rooms and outdoor community terrace will provide ample opportunities for people to gather and connect.

BETTER ACCESS FOR ALL

If the new Brentwood Y has a formula to its success, it’s the intentional design and commitment to making the facility accessible to everyone. The building’s layout is designed to make navigating through quick and simple, whether you’re dropping off a child at Y-Play, popping in for a quick swim or workout, or stopping by for a community event. Other features, including our new Community Locker Room, zero-entry pool access, and renovated Sam McGahern Full Circle Center, highlight just a few of the ways the facility is built with access and inclusion top of mind.
