Why meet with a Registered Dietitian?

All the nutrition and diet clutter found online and in the news can make it hard to know which path to take when starting or continuing your path to wellness. What good is “PERFECT” nutrition if it creates more stress to your already busy life?

A tailored nutrition plan does not have to be overwhelming. When customized appropriately, it is a powerful tool that can help you reach your wellness goals, like managing disease risk, enhancing athletic performance, incorporating weight management strategies, and improving your overall quality of life. Let’s get started!

All About Virtual Nutrition

An RDN is a food and nutrition expert who uses the science of nutrition to support healthy living through good habits. RDNs are required to have a Master's (MS) in Dietetics or Nutrition, complete a 1200-hour dietetic internship, pass a national registration for the RDN exam, and receive a state licensure.

Molly Drew, MS, RDN, CSSD is the Wellness Dietitian for the YMCAs of Middle Tennessee. She has a specialty in sports nutrition and is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). A CSSD is a registered dietitian who applies evidence-based nutrition knowledge in exercise and sports. This specialization in sports dietetics requires 2,000 additional hours of sports dietetics practice experience for the initial certification and 1,500 hours of specialty experience for recertification every 5 years. A CSSD strives to design, implement, and manage safe and effective nutrition strategies that enhance lifelong health, fitness, and optional performance for athletes and active individuals.

Before your initial consultation, you will receive an online questionnaire to complete your medical history and nutrition assessment. Your initial consult will be 60-minutes to discuss your goals, objectives, and nutrition plan. All follow-up appointments will be 30-minutes to track progress related to goals and objectives.

By completing the online nutrition questionnaire, you and the dietitian will tailor a nutrition plan specific to your individualized needs, goals, and objectives during your initial consultation.

Every participant who is interested in scheduling a nutrition appointment will complete an online nutrition questionnaire. An email will be sent through “Social Solutions Connect” prompting you with instructions on how to complete the online questionnaire. The initial questionnaire is very detailed. This is intentional so that each appointment can be tailored specifically to the individual. It is recommended to use a computer when completing the online questionnaire.

60-minute appts are reserved for initial consultations. 30-minute appts are for follow-up appointments.

Frequency will be determined on an individual basis.

Sessions will need to be utilized within 6 months of purchase before they expire.

The nutrition appointments are offered virtually or in-person dependent upon location and participant’s preferences.
