Build Healthy and Happy Hearts

Get your heart pumping in one of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee’s cardio or cycling classes. In a high-energy atmosphere, you’ll burn calories, build strength and increase your athletic ability. With a variety a classes from kickboxing to step to High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), there's something for everyone! 

Cardio and Cycling Classes:

Les Mills BODYATTACK

This high-energy sports-inspired cardio class combines athletic movements like running and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. You’ll build stamina, improve coordination and challenge your limits. Leave feeling confident!


Les Mills BODYCOMBAT

Take part in this high-energy, non-contact martial arts-inspired workout. Learn moves from Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Kung Fu. Release stress, have a blast, and feel like a champ as you punch and kick your way to fitness.


Kickboxing

Relieve stress while building agility, endurance and strength in this high-energy martial arts class! Kickboxing includes various sports-based drills, and bags may be a part of this class where gloves are recommended. Please check with your local Y.


Walk/Run Group

Are you ready to walk/run? Whether you are training for a race or just want the great cardio workout that running provides, this class is for you. Meet in the lobby and we'll hit the streets and walk or run together! No experience needed.


Rowing

An indoor rowing class that uses 85 percent of your muscles with every single stroke. A great low-impact workout and calorie burner!


Cardio Flow

This is a fun non-impact class combining dance, martial arts and healing arts. This class is great for any fitness level as you can adapt it to your needs and abilities.


POUND

This exhilarating full-body workout combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training. Using lightly weighted drumsticks made specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. 


Cardio Drumming

Cardio drumming combines cardio exercise and drumming to the rhythm of the music for a fun, fast-paced way to get your heart rate up, improve your coordination, build total-body strength, and burn calories. You don't need to be a drummer to do it, and even more amazingly, you don't even need drums! All fitness levels are welcome.


Treadmill Intervals

Take the boredom out of cardio and get easy results with treadmill interval training in the wellness center. These 30-minute classes combine bursts of intense exercise with short recovery periods, utilizing frequent changes in incline and speed. Adaptable for all fitness levels, this is a great way to socialize while you get an effective workout!

 

Intro to Cycling

New to cycling?  Try this beginner class where you spin your way through hill climbs and sprints while burning up to 500 calories in a 30 to 40 minutes session.  Make plans to arrive early to set up your bike and get pointers on proper form.


Indoor Cycling

Cycle your way through hill climbs, sprints and other mixed terrain challenges to get your heart pumping and your legs working! New to indoor cycling? Come 10-15 minutes early to get help setting up your bike from one of our experienced instructors.


Les Mills RPM

Control your own intensity in this group indoor cycling workout that's fun and low impact. With great music pumping and the group spinning as one, you'll go on a journey of hill climbs, sprints and flat riding to help you boost your cardio fitness.


Les Mills SPRINT

SPRINT is HIIT on a bike! Your coach will push you to your limits with short bursts of intense running, strength and sprinting using the bike. It’s a quick hard style of training that returns rapid results with minimal joint impact.


Cycle Blast

Spin to the beat, challenge your heart rate and utilize your full body momentum! Cycle through climbs, sprints, and various intervals to the music that is bound to keep you motivated all class long.


Cycle HIIT

Enjoy all the benefits of HIIT training on the bike. This 30 minute low impact class offers short, intense bursts of sprinting, climbing and riding followed by short recoveries to get your heart racing and your legs burning! 


Cycle/Strength Fusion

Indoor cycling meets strength training to accelerate your fitness. This class uses challenging cycling to rev up your cardiovascular fitness. Hop off the bike and work your core, upper and/or lower body using different equipment at the end of class.

Basic Step

This class offers basic but cardio-intensive step choreography for a great workout!


Step

Using the studio step, you'll move your way through choreography combinations that will give your heart the boost it needs to stay healthy and happy. 


BODYSTEP

Basic stepping, just like walking up and down stairs, is at the heart of BODYSTEP-a full-body cardio workout designed to really tone your glutes and thighs.


Advanced Step

Using the studio step, you'll move your way through choreography combinations that will give your heart the boost it needs to stay healthy and happy. This class is for more advanced steppers.


Step/Strength Fusion

A fusion of two classic aerobic routines, this class combines step choreography and a variety of strength training equipment to give you the best of both worlds when it comes to boosting your heart rate and working your muscles.

 

Les Mills GRIT Series

This cutting-edge high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class combines powerful music and inspirational coaches who will be on the floor with you, motivating you to go harder to get fit fast. Offered in strength, athletic and cardio formats.


Boot Camp

This circuit-inspired class combines sports conditioning drills with elements of strength training, intervals and endurance drills to deliver a fun team experience while getting great results! Every class is different to keep your body guessing.


HIIT

Get out of your comfort zone and accelerate results with high-intensity interval training. Classes combine short bursts of intense exercise with short recovery periods and utilize cardio and strength exercises. Formats include Tabata, AMRAP and more.


R.I.P.P.E.D.

Also known as the One Stop BodyShock!  This class is a plateau-proof workout that utilizes strength and cardio training, while masterfully combining Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, and Endurance.


Impact Cardio

Make an impact on your fitness with this dynamic interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength, agility and stabilization exercises. Low-impact options make this a great workout for any fitness level!


Step/Strength Fusion

A fusion of two classic aerobic routines, this class combines step choreography and a variety of strength training equipment to give you the best of both worlds when it comes to boosting your heart rate and working your muscles.
