Leighanne rejoined the Bellevue Y in July. In that short time she’s lost 45 pounds and more than 20 inches! She says she has a long road ahead, but with the army of amazing instructors and classroom warriors, “the sky’s the limit.”
It was a twist of fate for Leighanne. “I was seriously overweight and could not climb a flight of stairs without being winded.”
She looked to Dave’s BODYPUMP class. “God could not have led me to a better class. I can still hear Dave saying, ‘You are in this for your health. Fight for your health!’ I was so moved by this message.”
Leighanne expanded her group fitness routine and added classes such as CXWORK and BODYCOMBAT. She sings the praises of her instructors. “(Amanda, Melanie and Jen) are amazing. But what makes them unique is that they see themselves as partners in each person’s journey. They connect with each person, which creates sense of togetherness.”
And don’t worry if you are new or just getting back into a routine, says Leighanne. “They truly care about each student and offer options to ensure everyone can work hard and improve the workout based on the members’ fitness level.”
Leighanne adds that it isn’t only the instructors who have helped her along the way. “There is no way I could make it through a last round of squats or overhead presses without seeing other people around me powering through. The Bellevue Y has such a great feeling of comradery.”
When life gets hard and the inkling to skip a class creeps into Leighanne’s mind, she goes anyway. “At some point in the room, something magical happens. You get a high five or a fist bump or a smile from someone in the class or a shout out from the instructor – and then suddenly, there is NOTHING you cannot do.”
