Sweatin' Out the Stress
Rae Anne’s got some tips. After 6 years of faithful fitness at the Y, she knows the value of sweating out the day's stress. What keeps her coming back?
Rae Anne: To get a good workout in and the community—there are lovely people here.
Like the people interviewing you right now? Don’t answer that. What’s your current fitness goal?
Rae Anne: To not let the winter blues make me not workout or do yoga.
Preach it, sister! So, what helps you stay consistent?
Rae Anne: I’m pretty disciplined. I’m a therapist for my job, and it’s really intense, so I feel like this is a healthy way to cope with other people’s problems.
Well, you're the expert! Give us some advice for new members to help them achieve a steady routine.
Rae Anne: Don’t be discouraged when you come and it looks like there are people who know what they’re doing. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You will always feel better after you work out, even if you’re not in the mood going into it. You’ll feel much better—your mind, your body, and your soul—after you get a good sweat.
Aha! So that “spirit, mind, body” stuff we’re always talking about is a big deal. You heard it here, folks! Thanks for the encouragement, Rae Anne. You’re a Y champ!
