Rebuilding Strength

Alec comes to the Y every summer when he’s back home. We caught him in the middle of chest exercises, and he took a few minutes to tell us about his health journey.

Alec: I played football in high school, so I used to be strong. In college I slacked off, and then I wanted to be strong again. You have to work for it.

Have you seen an improvement?

Alec: Yeah, definitely. I'm getting stronger.

That's great! Any advice for others trying to get strong again?

Alec: You just have to have a picture in mind of what you want, and then if you really want it, you’ll do it. You’ll achieve it.

What about the days you don’t feel like exercising?

Alec: You just have to push through them, and the more you can do that the less of those days you will have, because then it’s just part of your daily routine.

Perseverance is key. Anything else you’d like to say about the Y?

Alec: Everyone’s friendly. If you ever need a spot you can ask anyone.
