No dues while we plan for how to safely reopen.
No dues while we plan for how to safely reopen.
Dear Valued Member,
Thank you for your ongoing patience and support and for sticking with us as a Y member during the COVID-19 health crisis. First and foremost, please be assured that with our facilities still closed, we will not be drafting membership dues for the month of May. I wanted to share this news with you, along with a few other key decisions we’ve made about our membership operation:
No membership draft for May
As I mentioned, we will not be drafting membership dues for May. We believe this is the right decision based on our current operating status. There is a range of local and state guidance we are reviewing which indicates that many or all of our facilities may not open for a few more weeks. This hold on your draft will take effect automatically with no action required from you, and will cover the entire month of May.
Consider donating your May dues
With the ongoing forced closure of our facilities, the Y continues to experience significant financial challenges. Despite this hardship, our community response efforts have only expanded thanks in part to members' generosity in donating their April dues to the YMCA Community Response Fund. Those contributions have made it possible for the Y to provide child care for essential workers, deliver over 2,000 meals a day to kids in need and their families, and maintain our critical youth outreach programs.

As this crisis for our community continues, we're determined to sustain these desperately needed services to our neighbors. That's why we humbly ask those who are able to consider once again donating a portion, all, or more than your May dues to the Community Response Fund. Any amount helps the Y deliver on our promise to strengthen our community in every circumstance.

Reopening plans
Even while our doors remain closed, we continue to plan for ways to operate safely when the time comes to reopen. These will include new safety protocols, including ways to ensure social distancing, based on the best guidance and feedback we receive from public health officials. As always, the health and safety of our members are our top priorities.

Should we learn that one or more of our centers can reopen earlier than anticipated, the plan would be to charge a fee for May, potentially reduced, to only those members who visit an open facility. If your local Y remains closed, or you do not yet feel comfortable visiting us, your membership will stay on hold and you will not be charged anything.
We're still here for you
As an organization whose key purpose is to connect our communities, this stretch of separation from you, our members, is extremely difficult. We miss you and want to keep being a resource for you to tend to your spirit, mind and body during this time.

Our digital library of at-home resources is still available to you! There, you'll find virtual workouts, resources for kids and seniors, and spiritual inspiration from our Chaplain. We also encourage you to keep following us on social media to stay connected and see timely updates from your Y.

Know that we are thinking of our Y family each and every day, and we anxiously await the day we can open our doors to you again.

With gratitude,

Dan Dummermuth
