What a great place to play tennis! Our facility offers 21 courts on three different surfaces, 10 outdoor hard courts (6 lighted), 4 outdoor seasonal Har-Tru clay courts (2 lighted), and 7 indoor hard courts. We have 10 teaching professionals all certified by either or both the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). In 2004, our tennis facility was named the United States Professional Tennis Association's Facility of the Year in Tennessee. In 2005, our Brentwood Novice Grand Prix sanctioned junior tournament, was named the USTA Tennessee Junior Tournament of the Year. We have year-round programming for players who are beginners, Division 1 college players, or somewhere in between.

& Instructional Programming
City Leagues
We participate in all of the leagues offered in the city and have over 300 of our tennis members playing in the spring, summer, and fall. The Ladies play USTA Leagues (6 Teams), MTTL (6 Teams) and NALTA (13 Teams). The Men play MTTL (2 Teams) and MTITL (1 Team). Our tennis members captain the teams.
YMCA Intraclub "Y Leagues"
Jim Monk, our tennis director, has organized year round league play opportunities for our tennis players at the Y. We offer singles, doubles, and mixed doubles and soon to come team formats so that players new to the Y or that want additional match play opportunities have a fun vehicle to accommodate them. We have over 120 players participating in our Y intraclub leagues each session.
Ladies NALTA
We have 11 NALTA Teams from B5 to AA levels (Thursday mornings), four singles teams (Tuesday mornings) and Working Women's teams (Sunday afternoons). The format is four doubles matches. NALTA leagues run for about six weeks in the spring and fall.
Ladies USTA
We have six teams that play on Mondays or Wednesdays, and Working Women and Senior divisions on Saturdays and Sundays. The format includes both singles and doubles and the season is for about six weeks each spring and fall.
Ladies MTTL
We have six teams that play on Thursday mornings in a league season that runs about six weeks in the summer. Format is three doubles lines. Teams are designated by NTRP level.
** Each team member must be a tennis member to participate on one of our teams.
Men’s Spring USTA Leagues
Singles and doubles competition in a team format, divided by NTRP ability level. Leagues run locally from five to eight weeks, with winning teams going on to represent Nashville in state, sectional, and national competition.
Cost of $10 - $15 per person registration fee.
Mens MTTL & MTITL
We have three teams (3.5 - 5.5) that begin their seasons in April and conclude each September. The MTITL team (3.5 -4.0) plays on Tuesday nights and the two MTTL teams (4.0) and (4.5 - 5.5) play on Thursday evenings. The format is 4 singles and 4 doubles matches. Each of our teams is captained by a tennis member.
** Each team member must be a tennis member to participate on one of our teams.
Mens/Ladies Group & Private Lessons
We have 10 USPTA or USPTR certified teaching professionals who offer year round scheduled clinics open to all as well as clinics specific to individual teams. During the outdoor season we offer a complimentary clinic for our tennis members on Saturday's that is open to all skill levels.
Cardio Tennis, “Heart Pumping Fitness!”
This nationally recognized, high intensity, one hour group tennis program focuses on using fast paced tennis drills to improve one’s overall cardio health. Tennis’ answer to “Spinning,” the hour consists of a 10 minute warm up, a 40 minute “workout” phase, and a 10 minute cool down all directed by our staff professionals. Because the main focus is to improve one’s condition, players of all levels can participate at the same time. It is a great way to meet people and have fun while working out! Cost is $15 tennis member, $20 Y member.

Saturday Morning Men's & Women's DrillsEvery Saturday during the outdoor season we meet, weather permitting, for group drills followed by match play. Meet the pro on the tennis patio. There is no charge for tennis members and all levels are welcome.
Monday Night Match Play
Every Monday night from 6:30-8pm.during the outdoor season, weather permitting, we offer complimentary drop in match play for all levels of players. Two of our assigned tennis members oversee this group which has become quite popular. There is no charge for tennis members and all levels are welcome.
Complimentary Indoor Court Time
Tennis members are not charged a fee for indoor court time.
MatchMates
Our Match Mates is a list of tennis members, their ability levels, and contact information that is used by players looking for match play but not sure who to call. We try to keep it updated on a quarterly basis. Please drop by the tennis desk to add you name to the list, or phone (615) 373-5120.
Mixers & Socials
Throughout the year we host evening and/or morning round robin mixers to give our new members a chance to meet our regular tennis players. The goal is to get members together who don’t get a chance to play with one another. They are geared especially for our new members. We offer doubles and mixed doubles King/Queen of the court match play with light refreshments. Each year we have eight scheduled mixers for men, women and mixed.USTA Sanctioned Tournaments
We have five USTA Junior Tournaments at the facility, with players able to become state, sectionally, and nationally ranked. Results are entered into the USTA data bank and rankings are updated weekly. These events are over a weekend. Registration for all of these tournaments is at www.usta.com.Junior Development Program
We have the largest Junior Development Program in Middle Tennessee with many State, Southern and Nationally ranked players. After school classes year round, ladder, Champs ladder, match play, conditioning classes, seminars on sport science, all make this program a must for the junior player. Afterschool Program
Traveling TeamFast moving, self-feeding drills, with many competitive situations. A very physical group; advanced drilling, mental toughness training, self discipline.
This group is expected to play challenge matches, local USTA tournaments, and to travel to tournaments with the team.
Junior Team
Much of the Traveling Team program, supplemented with pro-fed drills, rallying and cooperative drilling, and considerably more instruction on mechanics. This group is expected to play challenge matches, inter-club matches around Nashville, and USTA non ranked junior tournaments.
Rookie Team
Emphasis on learning proper stroke technique, fun games to encourage enjoyment; maximum instruction. We want to get this group playing points so that they can move up to the Junior Team.
Tiny Team
Emphasis on fun activities to improve balance, hand-eye coordination and tennis skills. Once these players can hit from behind the service line they are on their way up to the Rookie Team.
Tennis Conditioning
Each group lesson will include conditioning specifically designed to improve the following areas: balance, gross motor coordination, speed and explosive capabilities, strength, flexibility and agility.
Group Size
We plan to have a maximum 6:1 student to pro ratio, many times it will be less than this. On occasion we may have more than six due to pro sickness, student make-ups, etc. This is not our intent; we appreciate your patience.
Match Play
We will be having match practice, challenge ladder play days, inter-club matches with other local Nashville clubs and USTA tournaments.

Sign up in advance for the month; payment due by the 10th. Make-ups are allowed. When possible, please give us advance warning when not attending. Notify Hakan Darud for rescheduling.

Summer Junior Tennis Camps
We offer eight weeks of summer tennis camps each year beginning in June. It is a full week of tennis instruction, drills, conditioning, and point play. Starting with the basics, each stroke will be taught from the ground up, then practiced and reinforced all week. The philosophy of this camp is that tennis is a game, and games are fun! We play tennis from 9am–noon then have lunch, followed by swimming and pool activities. All campers should bring a sack lunch and swimsuit every day, wear non-skid mark shoes, a cap and sunscreen. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and evaluation on the last day of camp.
Ages: 6-13
Hours: 9am-2:30pm (Monday-Friday on dates listed)
Cost: $195 per week YMCA members, $240 per week program members
Registration: Begins June 2, 2009
Beginner Instructional Programming
Reggie Ludwig begins her sixth year directing our beginner instructional programming. Reggie offers two opportunities:Beginners Clinics — An entry-level class for those who are trying tennis for the first time or who have not played in a long time and need a refresher course on the basics.
Drill and Play — A class for those who have not played in a long time and need a refresher course on the basics including learning to play competitively. Reggie will be reviewing the correct grips, ground strokes, volley technique, and serving. After some basic instruction the remainder of the time is spent playing supervised matches.
Space is limited and sign-ups for each session are at the tennis bulletin board. Classes are schedule at various times throughout the year. For more information, please call Reggie Ludwig at (615) 373-2900 x62130.
