Cardio Tennis
Cardio Tennis is first and foremost, a great fitness activity. It is a 1 hour, fun group activity that pushes your fitness to a new level with a high energy workout while working on your tennis skills. Because the focus is on fitness, players of all abilities can participate at the same time! It is a great way to meet people and have fun while working out. Cardio Tennis will be to tennis…what Spinning has meant to riding a bike.

What happens in Cardio Tennis?
Cardio Tennis includes a warm up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. Taught by Certified Tennis Professionals, the majority of the program is the “workout” phase, which should last 30-50 minutes. Most of this portion will include fast paced drills where the pro’s feed balls to players based on their ability and fitness level. The focus of this portion is to try to have every player monitor and reach their target “cardio zone.” The pro’s will keep players moving and challenged…all while having fun!

What are the major benefits of Cardio Tennis?
  • Be introduced to tennis in a new and fun way
  • Meet new people and potential tennis partners
  • Participate in fun, group activities
  • Burn more calories than playing singles or doubles
  • Get short cycles of high intensity workout and periods of rest, almost like interval training.
Who can participate in Cardio Tennis?
Because the focus is improving one’s fitness, players at any level of play and fitness level can participate. ALL YMCA MEMBERS are welcome to participate.

Racquet stringing services are available at the Maryland Farms YMCA. Just leave your racquet at the court desk and it will be ready for you with 48 hours.

Synthetic Gut Extreme $27
Superior balance of playability and excellent durability demanded by all court players and hard hitters. This is a good string for all levels of play. Use the 17 gauge if you are more of a control player, the 16 gauge for all court play, and the 15 gauge if you are a hard hitter and need extra durability. For more spin, use the textured surface of the 15L gauge string designed to grip the ball a little longer.

Rip Control $29
This string offers less shock, reducing the risk of arm injury. It has an optimal feel that makes every racket play better. This string comes in 16 and 17 gauge and we recommend it for control players of all levels.

Rip Blend $29
This is the string for big hitters. It is very durable but retains good playability and bite the ball. The 19 gauge is ultra thin and durable with added feel and the 16 gauge give maximum durability demanded by frequent string breakers.

HammerTech $25
This is the top of the line for superior playability. It is a highly responsive string with added durability demanded by tournament players and comes in 16 and 17 gauge.
New Grip $8
