Cardio Tennis
Cardio Tennis is first and foremost, a great fitness activity. It is a 1 hour, fun group activity that pushes your fitness to a new level with a high energy workout while working on your tennis skills. Because the focus is on fitness, players of all abilities can participate at the same time! It is a great way to meet people and have fun while working out. Cardio Tennis will be to tennis…what Spinning has meant to riding a bike. What happens in Cardio Tennis?
Cardio Tennis includes a warm up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. Taught by Certified Tennis Professionals, the majority of the program is the “workout” phase, which should last 30-50 minutes. Most of this portion will include fast paced drills where the pro’s feed balls to players based on their ability and fitness level. The focus of this portion is to try to have every player monitor and reach their target “cardio zone.” The pro’s will keep players moving and challenged … all while having fun!
What are the major benefits of Cardio Tennis?
- Be introduced to tennis in a new and fun way
- Meet new people and potential tennis partners
- Participate in fun, group activities
- Burn more calories than playing singles or doubles
- Get short cycles of high intensity workout and periods of rest, almost like interval training.
Because the focus is improving one’s fitness, players at any level of play and fitness level can participate. ALL YMCA MEMBERS are welcome to participate.
