FACILITY INFORMATION

Welcome Center

The Maryland Farms YMCA's Welcome Center is your one-stop shop to have your member cards scanned, check in guests, register for programs and services, and get answers to any questions you may have. There is also a scan desk at the back entrance of the facility for members' convenience.

All guests must sign in at a designated location at the main welcome area near the front entrance. In the summer and holiday months, our guest volume is high, so please be patient if you find you must wait a few minutes during these peak times.

Our nearly 8,900-square-foot Wellness Center is a comprehensive workout facility for all fitness levels, ages and areas of interest. It's constantly bustling with action throughout the mornings, daytime and evenings.

Wellness staff members are always on hand to help answer any questions you may have during your time on the wellness floor. They can also connect you with both free and fee-based programs and services to help you set and achieve your health and fitness goals.

All members must adhere to rules for safe use of equipment and follow the code of conduct specified in the YMCA Member Handbook.

Indoor Cycling Studio

The Indoor Cycling Studio hosts a full schedule of popular classes throughout the week (early morning and evening classes fill up fast). The room is configured horseshoe with 39 StarTrac NXT bikes facing the instructor on a stage. Newcomers should make time prior to class to learn how to set up their bikes for their current fitness level. No reservations are required; bikes are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Locker Rooms

We have four locker rooms for members' convenience. Two are for members age 18 and up, the others are for users 17 or younger. Lockers may be rented for $10 per month; otherwise, be sure to bring a lock and take all personal items with you upon leaving.

There are 11 showers per locker room. Private changing spaces are available in the 17 and under locker rooms and the women's locker room. Amenities offered for members include irons, hair dryers and swim suit spinners.

Those using the locker room facilities are expected to follow the stated code of conduct as outlined in the YMCA Member Handbook. No cell phone use is allowed in locker rooms.

Indoor Pool

The indoor pool features three to six designated lanes for lap swimming depending on programming. Lap lanes are reserved for lap swimming and exercise only. Lap swimmers must circle swim if two or more swimmers are using the lane.

The pool is 25 meters long, 47.5 feet wide and reaches a depth of 5 feet.

The pool is utilized for various group exercise activities; please see the posted schedule for details. Members must abide by pool rules and the YMCA's swim test policy for younger swimmers.

Outdoor Pools

Our two outdoor pools, an Olympic-size pool and a kid-friendly water park, are open from May to September; see schedule for exact dates and hours of operation.

The Olympic-sized pool features two 13-foot flume slides. The zero entry, 3 foot-deep water park is decked with a 5-foot slide, 100-gallon dumping bucket, 10 different spray water features, a splash pad and 2-foot-deep baby pool.

Our indoor track encircles the tennis courts and is open for all members to use; children must be supervised by an adult. Fourteen laps equals one mile. There is an emergency phone in the area if assistance is ever needed.

We have 21 courts on site: 10 outdoor hard courts, four outdoor clay courts and seven inside hard courts. A tennis membership is required for access to the courts.

Reservations must be made three days in advance. There are no fees for tennis members to use the courts; guest fees are $15 (must be accompanied by a tennis member). We offer complete adult and junior programming.

The indoor courts are most heavily used November through March, as they are temperature controlled.

Racquetball

We have five racquetball courts open for reservation 24 hours in advance, for time slots not to exceed 90 minutes. The courts are busiest weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Proper shoes and protective eyewear are required. The walls of the courts are plaster except for the paneled front wall.

These courts are also used for camp and birthday party events.

Massage

We have designated space for massage therapy sessions. Visit the Welcome Center to book and pay for a session with one of our certified massage therapists. Ask about Stone massage and massage packages available for purchase.

Y-Play

More than just a safe place to look after your children while you work out, our Y-Play service offers children ages 6 weeks to 6 years the chance to get the most out of their own visit to the Y through playing, learning and staying physically active.

Children in our Y-Play area are separated by age group and offered a variety of age-appropriate amusements and activities. In the summer months, kids are treated to outside playground time.

Additional Information
Children may stay at Y-Play for up to two hours per day and a maximum of nine hours per week.

Parents/guardians are the only adults authorized to leave a child with Y-Play, and are required to remain on-site at the Y during their child's visit. Only the parent or guardian who signs a child into Y-Play may sign them out or pick them up.

Sick children are not allowed in the Y-Play area. Parents will be located if children do not calm down within 15 minutes of drop-off. Snacks, except peanuts or nut products, are allowed. Parents must supply diapers and wipes.

Youth Activity Center

Non-licensed Childcare for ages 7 - 12 years

Our Youth Activity Center is a safe, supervised place where kids ages 7-12 can play Wii, Dance-Dance Revolution and get exercise on the sports wall and kid-friendly exercise equipment.

Parents provide an information sheet for each child, and they must sign in and sign out their children at all visits. All participants must follow the rules of the Youth Activity Center. Parents should read these rules with their children to ensure understanding and adherence.
